Thoughts on Reality

There was a time where I kept having dreams within dreams. I'd wake up from a dream, and be thinking about my dream, only to wake up again and realize that THAT was a dream! Sometimes it went four levels deep!!

So I began questioning: how do we know if this is "reality"; or is it a dream or some sort of illusion? Or does it really even matter? I mean, whether awake or asleep, the soul is the same. So does it matter what "realm" it exists in? The soul (person) itself, the choices it makes, the experiences it has, are what matter, not the form that "reality" takes.

We like to cling to this notion that "this is real," because it gives us comfort that, well, a rock is a rock, and we don't have to question it. But is it really a rock? It could just be a construct in our minds. But does it matter? The mind is the same either way. And the experience is the same either way. So does it matter if the experience is in something called "reality," or if such a "reality" even exists?

Truly, that notion exists for our comfort and security. What matters is the individual, the experience, the choices, not the form of the realm that the experience takes place in.

I was once driving down a familiar road that I drive down all the time. I said to myself, "I know that this is real, because it FEELS real." But then I woke up.

Dreams only seem like dreams when we're out of them. But while we're in them, they seem just as real as this reality. So how do we know we're not in a virtual world right now? We don't. But does it matter?
